.
Husband of:
.
1) Sarah Owen, whom he married on April 7, 1788, in Tinmouth, Rutland, VT, and with whom he had three known children: Laura, Gloriana, and William Gillett. Laura divorced him on grounds of "adultery and abuse" in Rutland Co., VT, on January 1801, and I have no further information about her.
.
2) Huldah Kellogg, a young woman (purportedly "under age"), whom he married about 1802 in Pownal, Bennington, VT. Huldah died in Pownal, Bennington, VT, on 12 Aug 1806.
.
In about 1810, Sylvester migrated from Vermont to Lysander, NY.
.
A letter, published in the "Recollections of Orin Linden Ray" makes brief mention of Sylvester:
"Silvester was my grandfather. He married and lived some years with his father in West Tinmouth. They were all large, strong, stalwart men and very supple of limb . . . My mother [Gloriana Gillett] often said her father, Sylvester, was the strongest and spryest of the Gillett family. He always attended his medical practice traveling on foot."
