Major League Baseball Player, College Coach and Administrator. Born Jesse Terrill Hill. A star running back for USC in 1928 and 1929, he switched to baseball and played as an outfielder for three different ML teams: the New York Yankees (1935), Washington Senators (1936 to 1937), and Philadelphia Athletics (1937). He had a career batting average of .289 and batted in 108 runs. He later returned to USC and served as its head track coach (1949 to 1950, 1962) and football coach (1951 to 1956). Hill was USC's athletic director from 1957 to 1972.
