Son of Rev. John Pafford and Sarah Melton of Benton Co., TN. Joined the Confederacy at age 21 and was soon after captured at Island #10. From there he was taken prisoner, transported to Camp Randall at Madison, Wisconsin, and from there he was sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago, IL where he died of pneumonia. Hubbard is buried in the mass grave of Confederate soldiers, along with his cousins William Bryant Brewer and Lewis Brewer, all of the 55th TN Infantry of Benton County, Tennessee.
