Catherine Muhl Muenzenberger passed away at home on Saturday, May 05, 2007 at the age of 102.

Catherine, known to her grandchildren and family as "Cotsy", led a long life dedicated to church, family and community. The oldest of ten children, Catherine was born in Waco, Texas on January 27, 1905 to parents Edmond and Josephine Muhl.

She graduated co-salutatorian with her sister Teresa from the Sacred Heart Academy in Waco in 1923. She attended Baylor University prior to establishing the Catherine Muhl Flower Shop in the Raleigh Hotel in Waco along with her sister Agnes.

Catherine was married to Carl Muenzenberger of San Antonio on May 26, 1938. Carl had opened Carl's Fine Flowers in downtown Corpus Christi in 1937. Immediately following their marriage, Catherine joined Carl in the flower business where she remained active until her mid 90's. Known by her employees and customers as Mrs. Carl, Catherine worked for many years in a business that she loved. The family-operated shop continues today in downtown Corpus Christi.

When not working at Carl's Flowers, Catherine could be found actively involved in her church. As one of the founding members of St. Patrick parish, she served as President of St. Patrick Altar and Rosary Society, President of Theresians of St. Mary, founder and President of the Blessed Sacrament Auxiliary, and was a member of Autumn Leaves and Caring Friends organizations at St. Patrick. She played organ for Sunday evening masses for several years. In the year 2000 Catherine was given the Valiant Woman Award from the Church Women United Organization.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Carl, an infant son, her parents and eight brothers and sisters, and her precious great granddaughter Mary Clare Regitz.

Catherine is survived by her brother Robert C. Muhl of Waco, Texas; her three children: Alpha Patterson and husband Tom, Marion Muenzenberger, Ernest Muenzenberger and wife Kathy, all of Corpus Christi; her five grandchildren: Laura Williams and husband Lyle, Stephanie Regitz and husband Matt, and Emily Muenzenberger, all of Houston; Brian Patterson of Corpus Christi, and Matthew Muenzenberger of College Station, Texas; and her four great grandchildren: Julia, Andrew and Adam Williams and Athan Regitz, all of Houston, Texas.

During Mother's life she has been blessed with loving, caring helpers. The family would especially like to recognize Thelma E. "Velma" Jones, Ruth Taylor, deceased, Judy Majek, Donna Havmek, Diana Dominguez, Irene Grimaldo and Sara Garcia.

Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at the Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, at 3:00 p.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Msgr. Roger Smith as celebrant. Burial will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Matt Muenzenberger, J. I. Muhl, Jamie Muhl, Mike Muhl, Brian Patterson, Matt Regitz, Mike Schmidt, and Lyle Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bob Reagan, Dave Snyder, Ernie Stromberger and Jim Swenke.
