DAR records indicate that John John was born in Wales and among the first to enlist in the Revolutionary War from Pennsylvania. He served from the siege of Boston to the surrender of Cornwallis. Ref: Major John O. Brown – Hanna John's parents emigrated to U. S. from Wales. Hanna was born on boat enroute. She became a Dr. of medicine with wide practice, covering her area on horseback and would at times be gone several days. She is buried in cemetery at Blue Ridge, IN. At the time of her death, she was 86 years, 9 months and 16 days. Inscription on gravestone reads: "Her long life was a lesson of constant devotion to her conviction of right". The gravesite of George Brown, Rev. War Veteran was in a very deplorable condition, he being buried in a pasture on his home place and gravesite being over run by stock. During the month of September 1961, I, personally, had this condition corrected. The headstones – one placed by the Quartermaster General U. S. Army, another by D. A. R. Chapter – reset, grave filled in and gravesite enclosed by a fence. On the wall, main entrance of the Rush County, Indiana Courthouse is a plaque bearing the name of George Brown, together with 23 other veterans of the Rev. War buried in Rush County.
