BURWELL.--Funeral services will be held today in Brentwood, Pa., for the Rev. James B. Burwell, age 60, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Amherst, Erie County, New York. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, in Pittsburgh.
A native of Uniontown, Pa., the Amherst resident died Saturday (September 1, 1979) while visiting relatives in Pittsburgh. He graduated from Western Theological Seminary, Pittsburg, and was assigned to churches in Claysville, Pa., and Pittsburgh during the early part of his career. A senior minister of Christ United Methodist Church, Harlem and Saratoga Roads, since 1968, he was a member of the Board of Ordained Ministry of the Western New York Conference and a member of the denomination's Buffalo District Finance Committee. He is survived by his wife, Blanche; three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Harper and Mrs. James O'Hara, both of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Thomas Zeigler of Marietta, Ohio; a brother, the Rev. Wayne Burwell of Brandon, Florida; and a sister, Mrs. Vergil McMaster of Pemberton, New Jersey.
