After arriving in Vietnam 21 April 1968, John was assigned to HH Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade, USARV and attached to E Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry, during a combat operation. John and another soldier died as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from friendly fire when they were mistaken for hostile forces.
Larry was 7 months into his second tour of duty. His cause of death was listed as Misadventure.
Survived by his mother, Theresa William of 600 Redhill Avenue, San Anselmo, California.
