1995 Mar 8 - Manton - Nina Eva Hankins was born Wednesday 21 Nov 1900 in Stanton to John Henry & Lucille May (Wagner) Hankins. She married Ralph Clyde Byers Friday 12 Dec 1919 at the Buckley Congregational Parsonage in Buckley. They moved to Flint then to Coldwater then to Buckley. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and quilting.

Nina Eva (Hankins) Byers of Manton died Wednesday 08 Mar 1995 at the age of 9 4 y 3 m 15 d at her residence. At the time of her death she was living with her granddaughter and her husband, Sandra & Steve Scott at 5130 E 10 Rd in Manton. Cause of death was CVA with an interval between onset and death as hours, other contributing factors were Arteriosclerotic Vascular Accident with an interval between onset and death as 4 1/2 hours, Advanced Age and Diabetes Mellitis. Survivors included 5 granddaughters, Sandra & Steve Scott of Manton, Sharon & Richard Smith of Thompsonville, Patti & Joe Clark of Kingsley, Penny & Paul Billiau of Grand Rapids, and Bonnie Jane Byers of Buckley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph 08 Nov 1975; 2 sons, Earl William Byers 18 Feb 1972, and Leroy Raymond Byers 28 Jan 1979; 1 daughter-in-law, Amybell Catherine (Porter) Byers 23 Oct 1994; 1 grandson, James Byers 08 Mar 1992; 1 granddaughter Nina Ann Byers 15 Sep 1945; 1 great-grandson Charles Raymond Scott; 7 brothers, John De Lancie Hankins 26 Apr 1973, Fredie Hankins 30 Jun 1900, Arthur Hankins, Wallace Raymond Hankins 28 Nov 1986, Robert Louis Hankins, Ernest Cleveland Hankins, and Donald Hankins; 4 sisters, Ida May Johnson 04 Jun 1961, Lucille May 'Lucy' Redman 04 Apr 1988, Lula Viola Castle 05 Jul 1985, and Infant Hankins 20 Dec 1920.

Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday 10 Mar 1995 at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. Funeral services were 1 pm Saturday 11 Mar 1995 at the Covell-Smith Funeral Home with Rev Delvin Carpenter officiating.

Burial was in Sec A, Plot 42 in Sherman-Mesick Memorial Cemetery in Mesick.
