WALTER L. BLUE

Walter Langdon Blue, third son of Eliza Jane and Andrew Jackson Blue, was born in Washington Twp., near Russell, Iowa, on Nov. 24, 1869 and passed away at his home in Chariton, Aug. 20, 1953 at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 27 days. He lived most of his early life on a farm near Russell, and later on, a farm near Derby, until he retired ten years ago and moved to Chariton.

He married Mary Ethel Kells Oct. 17, 1895 and to this union 13 children were born. Two preceded him in death, Fae at the age of 2 years and David Leonard on his 23rd birthday in World War II. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ethel M. Blue and 11 children. They are Claude Blue of Council Bluffs, Ia.; Lucille Babbitt of South Bend, Ind.; Violet Foster at home; Paul Blue of Des Moines, Ia.; Maurice Blue of Hinsdale, Ill.; Lowell Blue of Peoria, Ill.; Mae Roberts of Lucas; Avis Medland of Centerville; Robert Blue of Peoria, Ill.; Ralph Blue of Des Moines, Ia.; and Louise Baker of Pico, Cal.

There are also 26 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Bessie Kells of Russell, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Mr. Blue was very active until he had a stroke four days preceding his death. He was a student of all nature's wonders, he loved to read, and took a great interest in all world affairs. He was a kind husband and father and will be greatly missed by all his family and by his neighbors and friends. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge for many years.

Funeral services were held at the Beardsley Funeral home Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery.
