Born in Canton, OH, April 23, 1918, he was drafted and spent 52 months in the Army and was at Pearl Harbor when World War II started. He was retired from Babcock & Wilcox in Canton, and a member of Kountz Memorial Lutheran Church in Louisville, American Legion Post 548 of Louisville, Pearl Harbor Survivors Club, and Babcock & Wilcox Retirees Club.
He was the son of the late Nicholas and Florence Zancourides.
Survived by his wife, Doris (Edwards) Zancourides to whom he had been married 52 years; a son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Kristine Zancourides of Louisville; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris Jean and Richard Untch of Canton; a sister, Mary Schafer of Dearborn, MI; and five grandchildren, John III and Jason Zancourides, Lynn, Lori and Eric Untch.
