Michael was born and raised in Portland.
When he arrived in Vietnam 5 March 1969, Michael was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Charlie Company was participating in Operation Utah Mesa when the Marines were engaged by hostile forces, 5.5 kilometers south southwest of Khe Sanh. Michael died during the fire fight as a result of gunshot wounds to the body from hostile rifle fire.
Michael was single and served his country for 4 years.
Survived by his parents, Ralph L and Gloria A Boyer and his brother; Gary R Boyer all of Portland, Oregon.
