Daughter of Joseph and Ellen E. Keen she first married Charles Van Sant May 20, 1871 and had 2 children Norman S. and Charles. They separated and she married Charles Lewis Dodd May 10, 1882 he believing her to be divorced and he himself recently divorced. After his death it came out that she was not divorced at the time of her marrage. She then lied to the pension board in an attempt to obtain his Civil war pension stating her first husband was dead. When her first husband was found to be alive she was prosecuted and did jail time. Moral of the story don't mess with the pension board.
