Thelma Guynell Gault Spears Hughes,104,widow of John Elliott Hughes,formerly of Cherokee County SC and Jonesville SC, passed away Friday,July 24,2009 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home..Mrs. Hughes was born in the Kelton community of Union County,Dec.29,1904, a daughter of the late Joseph Wallace Gault and Edith Fowler Gault...She was first married to the late William Asbury (Billy) Spears..She is the last surviving member of her immediate family....Mrs Hughes was predeceased by a daughter,Mary Elizabeth Spears,two sisters Marie Howell and Ruth Fowler,and three brothers Clark,Roy and Edgar Gault..Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday,July 26 2009, at Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery conducted by the Rev. Christopher Greene..
