Opera Singer. A lyric soprano, she is best remembered as half of the classical duo "Wrightson and Hunt", which toured for over 30 years. Raised in Pennsylvania, she studied voice in school, and with teachers in Philadelphia. She made her recital debut at the Barkley Hotel in 1946, performed at the Great Auditorium of Ocean Grove, New Jersey, and had her operatic bow as Marzellina in Beethoven's "Fidelio" in Central City, Colorado, in 1947. Winning the Metropolitan Opera's "Auditions of the Air" in 1949, Miss Hunt was a regular there for the next four seasons in such roles as Lauretta in "Gianni Schicchi", Musetta in "La Boheme", and Papagena in Mozart's "The Magic Flute"; in 1953, she was to take the role of Adele in Strauss' "Die Fledermaus", the Metropolitan's first made-for-television production. Around this time, she caught the interest of baritone Earl Wrightson, begining a professional and romantic partnership that continued until Wrightson's death in 1993. (Her marriage to Morton Hunt had ended in divorce). Soon a regular on Wrightson's television show "At Home", she began touring with him in Broadway shows (including, over the years, "Brigadoon", "Carousel", "The King and I", and "Fiddler on the Roof"), and concerts. The pair made frequent appearances during the mid-1950s on the Robert Q. Lewis Show, and once, in the Lyndon Johnson years, sang at the White House. Wrightson and Hunt made their last tour with "The Sound of Music" in 1979 and 1980, then did occasional concerts before retiring in 1987. In her later years, Miss Hunt lived in New York and New Jersey, and taught. She died at 84 from complications of cardiac surgery, leaving a legacy of around a dozen records made for Columbia.
