Isaac Henry Woolf Barnato, called 'Jack,' was born at 36 Curzon Street in Mayfair.
Eager to serve in World War One, he applied to join the military but was initially rejected, with no reason given. It may, however, have been due to him listing himself as head of household with the care of his widowed mother. Undaunted, he tried again and on 15 September 1914 and this time was accepted. He earned his Aviator's Certificate at the R.N.A.S., Eastbourne on 20 August 1915.
Jack married Dorothé Mabel Lewis, daughter of Diamond magnate Joseph Lewis and American stage and cinema actress, Miss Fanny Ward, at London in 1917.
He died at his residence, 14 Duke Street Mansions in Grosvenor Square, of complications following influenza, in the following year.

Barnato, occurred suddenly on Saturday, after a few days' illness, at Duke-street-mansions, Grosvenor-square. Captain Barnato, who was 24 years old, was one of the four naval airmen who in the early days of the war bombed Constantinople.
