Charles Thomas Padgett, 19, was found dead with a self inflicted bullet wound in his head early yesterday morning, his body being discovered lying on a concrete walk at a corner of the Catholic Church building on Walnut Street.
Padgett's body was found about 2:30 o'clock after police had been searching for him following a disturbance which took place a few hours earlier.
Coroner David Rees reported that the position of Padgett's body when found indicated he had killed himself by holding a .38 caliber pistol to his right temple, the bullet passing through his head, Death was believed instant and the coroner expressed belief that Padgett had been dead for more than an hour when his body was discovered.
Coroner Rees said he learned that City Patrolmen Ross Palmer and Alton Taylor had been called to the corner of Walnut and Pike Streets about 11 o' clock Wednesday night after Padgett and his wife, Dorothy Fryman Padgett, had become involved in an argument.
Mr. Padgett and his wife made their home on North Poplar Street. They were married Jan. 28, 1946.
Besides his wife Padgett is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orie E. Padgett; a brother, O.T. Padgett, and two half sisters Elsie Marie Morrison and Mary Elizabeth Rose, all of this county.
Funeral services will be held at Smith-Rees Funeral Home at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning, Saturday. Rev C.N. Barnette will officiate. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cememtery.
