They had Hautau children (all connected below):
Henry Alfred, 2 Jan 1877 (Mirriam Hewes)
Charles Frederick, 27 Oct 1878 (Margaret Llewellyn)
Mary Beatrice, 30 Sep 1881 (Edward Otto Horn)
Walter Irving, 15 Nov 1884 (Edna M. Albert)
Alwin Wallace, 15 Nov 1884 (Gwendolyn Llewellyn)
Emma E, 2 Nov 1890 (Clifford Owen & Esmond Hersberger)
On the 3 Jul 1860 Ward 5, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois Census, in dwelling #810, I found Liquor Dealers John Stephani, 34 and Jacob Stephani, 30; EMMA Stephani, 4; Bertha Stephani, 2 and Mary Preble, 18. John has $1,000 in real estate and $10,000 in personal property and Jacob has $3,000. in real estate and $10,000 in personal property. The children were born in "Chicago" and the rest were born in Prussia. It would appear the children's mother has passed away. On the same 1860 census, John Stephani's in laws claimed they had 2 young Stephani children: Emma, 2 and "Fanny," 1. I can only assume the in-laws shared them or watched them during the time their father was at work.
Emma does not have a gravestone on her plot. Her Illinois Death record confirms the above dates and states she was buried at Rosehill Cemetery, on 13 Sep 1927.
Widow Emma "Hantan"s" (or Hautan on Ancestry) Cook County, Illinois death certificate #6024889 states she died in Cook County on 10 Sep 1927. It lists her parents John J "Stephans" and Nancy Lederer and husband Henry. Her death occurred at 5946 Race Ave. She was born 26 Jan 1857 in Chicago, where she resided at her death. H D Sheldon Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Emma Owen was the informant. She was buried at Rosehill, 3 days later on the 13th.
According to the Rosehill Cemetery office (8-2020), Emma was the "owner of the 4 graves in this plot." It included her parents Henry Lederer and Mary M Kappes plus husband Henry Hautau and hers. " Only Henry Lederer has a marker here." Next to him is Henry Hautau, then Emma and last on the end is her mom, Mary. Section G and J with other family connections, are across from each other.
Two family photos appear to be a Hautau, Horn and Llewellyn reunion, taken in approximately 1924. LHB kindly helped identify some in photo below.
The 2nd photo of the Hautau plus reunion with backrow heads NOT cut off, include by row, left to right:
