Film and Television Producer and Writer. Born in Germany to Jewish parents, his family emigrated to Denmark and then to South Africa when he was a young boy in order to escape the Nazis. Educated in England, he moved to the United States as a young man and landed a job at NBC where he eventually became an assistant to Emanuel Sacks, vice president of entertainment. In the 1960s, he worked for a public relations firm where he was a valued news source for journalists. He later formed his own production company and produced several television shows including 'Danger Grows Wild' and 'Husbands and Wives', On July 11, 1965, he met a young comedienne, Joan Rivers, and the couple were married four days later. He would go on to manage her career and in 1968, he produced her first daytime TV show, 'The Joan Rivers Show.' In the 1970s, he would produce several more TV movies and shows before producing his first movie, 1978's 'Rabbit Test', which was written and directed by his wife and starred Billy Crystal. In the 1980s, he would produce several more TV movies and would write and produce several episodes of 'The Late Show.'
