MR. EDGAR EDELEN, age 40, died at Sprague's Sanitarium at Lexington Thursday evening, April 21, 1938, of self strangulation. He was taken to the sanitarium on Sunday prior to his death for treatment. The body was brought to George I. Edelen Funeral Home in this city Thursday night and prepared for burial, being removed Friday morning to the home of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Montgomery, on Lebanon Road, to await burial. It was viewed there by hundreds of friends. Funeral services were held at St. Rose Cemetery at 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning. Interment was in St. Rose Cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Lucille Montgomery Edelen; four children, T.H., George, Paul, and Miss Louise Montgomery; four sisters, Mrs. Tom Filiatreau, Bardstown; Mrs. Herman Hays, Shively; Mrs. Arthur Hill and Miss Ella Edelen, Marion County; one brother, Polin Edelen, Louisvllle; and two half-brothers, James and Leonard Edelen, Oakland, Cal. Mr. Edelen was a son of the late George E. and Lula Clements Edelen and was born and reared on a farm near this city. He received his early education in the city schools here and for the past several years had been successfully engaged in farming in the St. Rose section. He was widely known and well liked and his tragic death came as a shock to his family and friends.
