Funeral services for Gerald F. Heinrich, 49, Grand Rapids, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids. Rev. Loren Vogler will officiate at the service and burial will be in Itasca Cemetery in Grand Rapids. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids.
He was born Dec. 4, 1931 at Grand Rapids and died Sunday, July 12, at Itasca Memorial Hospital. He attended schools in Cohasset and Grand Rapids and graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and returned to Grand Rapids later. He married Janice Sommers June 13, 1959, in Grand Rapids. He owned and operated Jerry's Conoco service station in Grand Rapids for 16 years and owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Grand Rapids for 12 years before retiring in February 1981.
He served as president of the Cap Baker Lions Club, Grand Rapids, in 1978 and was active in the McVeigh-Dunn Post of the American Legion in Grand Rapids. He was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as head usher, Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; three daughters, Mrs. Brian (Tammy) Holms, Palmer, AL, Mrs. Thomas (Vicki) Greniger, Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Dennis (Kathy) Stenberg of Jeffrey City, WY; two sons, Jerry and Fredrick of Grand Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Floyd (Thelma) Harthan of Cohasset; two brothers, William and Keith of Cohasset; his mother, Mrs. Gladys Heinrich of Cohassed; and two grandchildren.
