Quentin P. Whipple, age 89, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Heartland of Piqua. He was born March 4, 1920 in Ashley, Oh. to Claude and Lucille (Powell) Whipple.

Quentin graduated from Ashley High School and from The Ohio State University in 1942, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He was the skipper of PT 174 boat in the South Pacific, WWII. He worked for Columbus Coated Fabrics and retired from Borden. Member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and was a resident of Trillium Place for many years.

Preceded in death by his parents and wife Joan A. Whipple in 1999. Quentin is survived by his children, Andrew Whipple (You-Ying) of Upland, Ind., Sally Rudy (Robert) of Covington, Oh. and Richard Whipple (Lindsay) of St. David, Ariz.; grandchildren, Joan Kwong (Andrew), Kyle Whipple, Beth Whipple (Brett Martin), Daniel Whipple, Brian Rudy and Jill Rudy; great granddaughter, Hannah Kwong; and sister, Jean Drake (Bud).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 2151 Dorset Road, Columbus, Oh. 43221. Reception to follow. The Reverend Paul St. Germain officiating.
