Miss Nancy Engle, a well known resident of Center township, died at her home near Oak Forest, Sunday morning, December 9, aged 78 years, after an illness due to complications and infirmities incident to old age. Miss Engle was a daughter of Godfrey and Maria Vandruff Engle, deceased, and was born December 6, 1850, in Center township, where she spent her entire life. After teaching school for several years, Miss Engle decided to study medicine, but her health became impaired and she had to give up the profession. She was a member of the Pursley Baptist church and was a faithful attendant until her health failed. Two sisters, Misses Margaret and Emma Engle and a brother, Peter Engle, all of near Oak Forest, survive.
