Major League Baseball Player. He was a right-handed pitcher for three teams in fifteen seasons in the major leagues. He pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals (1915 to 1919), Philadelphia Phillies (1919 to 1923), and finished with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1923 to 1929). During his career, he played in 498 games. He was a starting pitcher in 406 games, compiling a 188-180 won-loss record. He had an earned run average of 3.37 and struck out 1,063 batters. He led the National League in wins in 1926 with 20. He was on a World Series championship team with the Pirates in 1925. He was one of the few players to wear glasses on the field in the early 20th century.
