Tipton Tribune Monday Feb. 27 1931 page 1 & 2Sarah Pickard Died SuddenlyMrs. Sarah Pickard, wife of Albert Pickard of the Ekin community, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edgar Hershman and family northwest of Ekin Thursday night at 10:30 o'clock. Mrs. Pickard who would have been 79 yars of age Mdrch 29th, suffered a stroke of paralysis at the home at 9:00 o'clock and never rallied.Mr. and Mrs. Hershman had gone to church earlier in the evening leaving her in her usual health and up and about the house. About 9:00 o'clock she went out on the rear porch to get a drink of water and was stricken there falling to the floor. A granddaughter who was staying with her heard the fall and summoned assistance and a physician. She did not rally or recognize any of the family before death came.Mrs. Pickard is survived by the husband and the daughter and grandchildren. She was twice married her first husband being a Mr. Garner. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Steele and was born in Indiana and had lived in the Ekin community many years. She was the last of her family, a brother, Elijah Steele dying about two weeks ago.
