In 2,834 plate appearances he batted .291 with 363 runs batted in and 14 home runs. From 1911 to 1913, he hit over .300 three straight years and finished third in the voting for Most Valuable Player as the Giants went to three straight World Series. He was the principal catcher for Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson. He was a Cahuilla Indian.
