David Ray Brock, 86, of Spraggs, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2009, in the home of his brother, Don.

He was born Thursday, March 22, 1923, in Whiteley Township, Greene County, a son of Ira Grant Brock and Ina Ethel Headley Brock.

Mr. Brock was a member of the former Pinoak Church of God, where he served as Sunday school teacher, superintendent and clerk.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II from 1941 to 1945.

Mr. Brock was a farmer and had worked for West Virginia University as a bus driver and parking attendant.

He enjoyed coon hunting and camping.

His first wife, Daisy McCoy Brock, died in 1974.

His second wife, Esther Matthews Brock, whom he married October 16, 1989, survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Dorothy Sollars of Fairmont, W.Va.; two sons, David E. Brock and Gary R. Brock, both of Spraggs; a stepson, the Rev. Phillip W. Yost of Waynesburg; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a brother, Donald E. Brock of Spraggs; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Patty Pettit, and a brother, Kenneth Brock.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 5, with the Rev. Fred Tomlinson and the Rev. Phillip W. Yost officiating. Burial will be in Fairview-Kiger Cemetery, Whiteley Township. Graveside military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793, James Farrell American Legion Post 330 and Disabled American Veterans 123, all of Waynesburg.
