Irish Nationalist Revolutionary. A poet and writer, he was a signatory to the Proclamation of the Republic. Active during the Easter 1916 rising, he was one of fourteen leaders of the uprising to be court-martialed and executed by firing squad in Kilmainham Jail (a further 75 were condemned but reprieved).
