Charles Kenneth Steitz was born in Fresno, Ca., to Charles Steitz and Charlotte Walter Steitz.

He graduated from Central Union High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Dolores Dauer. They married in January, 1942, prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army. After returning from serving in WWII, they had two children, Curtis and Kendel.

Ken and his brother-in-law, Earl Cheeseman, along with their wives, owned and operated the local grocery store in Biola, Ca., "Cheeseman & Steitz" for 36 years.

After retiring, Ken and Dolores enjoyed fishing, golf, and their grandchildren Brad, Valerie, Kenneth, Curtis and Drew. He was active in VFW, Masonic Lodge and was past president of the Biola Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years; his two children, Curtis Steitz and Kendel Goldthwaite; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel, on Friday, October 30, 2009, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at Biola Congregational Church on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

Remembrances can be made to the Biola Congregational Church, P.O. Box 307, Biola, Ca., 93606, or to a favorite charity.
