His daughter Kathleen, wrote in 2006, "Daddy's family came out of Jackman. Just after he married Lucy, they went right back up to Jackman. We moved to the farm in Corinth in 1938 when Grammy died. Daddy was a kind man who in the summer put in a garden big enough for 10 families and gave most of it all away. He could shoe horses, file saws on the side, raised crops, chickens(close to 3000)and had white face steers, and also made maple syrup. Life was good in Corinth, a beautiful village back in those days, streets were lined on both sides with the maple trees."

His wife was Lucy Mabel Elliott who was born 4 Feb 1892 and died 11 Jul 1971. Kathleen said of her mother, ""She was a school teacher in Jackman. In fact for a little side note, Mother was the youngest woman admitted to Castine Normal School, going there when 15 or 16. She taught school in Corinth and Jackman, Long Pond area."
