Reva Handy Rorrer, 92, of Stuart, died Thursday, January 1, 2004 at R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on September 29, 1911 to the late Elijah H. and Lillie Newman Handy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rorrer was preceded in death by her husband, E. Hayes Rorrer; two daughters, Patricia Rorrer and Judy Lee Rorrer; four sisters, Opal Owens, Grace Foley, Lucy Taylor and Ethel Howell; and five brothers, Joe, Ted, Ernest, Roy and Taft Handy. She graduated from Central Academy in 1931 and from Draughn's Business College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She retired from Easthampton Rubber Thread in Stuart. Mrs. Rorrer is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Doug (Ellen) Light of Stuart and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Rorrer Sunday at 4 p.m. at Patrick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 3:45 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, after which time they will proceed to the graveside.
