A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church for Lou Alice Bertrand Miller, 91, who died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at 6:30 a.m. at Holly Hill House Nursing Home in Sulphur.

Fr. Joseph Tran, Pastor of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Mausoleum.

Mrs. Miller was a native of Iota, a longtime resident of Mowata and a resident of Sulphur at the time of her death. Mrs. Miller was a devout Catholic and enjoyed going to church often. Her family always looked forward to visiting with MoMo because she would have "the best" homemade hot rolls, cinnamon rolls, and coffee waiting. She loved to cook, bake and visit with her family. She enjoyed reading her newspaper, speaking cajun French and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play.

Mrs. Miller is survived by three daughters, Cheryl M. Janise and her husband Richard of Moss Bluff, Suzanne M. Menou and her husband Harvey of Sulphur, Sheila M. McManus and her husband David of Lafayette; one son, Terry Miller and his wife Misty of Princeton, LA; one brother, J. D. Bertrand, Sr. of Iota; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Z. Miller; her parents, Lecuse and Laura LeJeune Bertrand; one sister, Frances deVillentroy.
