Rueben and his wife were living in Jamaica, New York, when Rueben enlisted in the Army 19 August 1963, at a recruiting office in New York.
When Rueben arrived in Vietnam 16 December 1965, he was assigned to A Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Calvary, 1st Calvary Division, USARV. A Company was on a patrol when they encountered hostile forces. Rueben died as a result of a traumatic amputation of the lower leg and fragmentation wounds to the head from "friendly fire" artillery round that fell short of it's intended target.
Rueben served his country for 2 years.
Survived by his wife, Juanita J Butcher of 146-12 115th Avenue, Jamaica, New York, and his parents, John B and Nannie T Butcher of 1716 1st St, Philadelphia, PA.
