The Union Democrat - Feb 24, 1955 - Page 1 William Canova, 51, of Coulterville, died at his home there early Wednesday morning. Born and raised in Coulterville, Mr. Canova was a son of Mrs. Norma Canova, of that town. His body was moved yesterday by Terzich and Wilson to the Tiscornia and Ivers Chapel in Mariposa, where funeral services will be held later this week.
Although the above obituary states that he was born in Coulterville, his WWII draft registration shows his birth place as Sonora, California. He served in the U. S. Navy.
On April 24, 1923, he married Jessie Marion Jensen in Oakland. They had a daughter, Phyllis Marie, on November 6, 1923, but the marriage didn't last long.
In December 1928, he married Helen L. Turnbaugh. The marriage lasted a few years.
In July 1936, he married Bertha Ada Negley, who survived him.
Besides his wife, he was survived by his daughter, Phyllis, and a grandson, William Andrew Bresso.
