Georgia Rose "Cookie" Dehlinger was born on Sept. 9, 1921, to Judge Elmer D. Cook and Georgianna (Simkins) Cook in Salem, Ore. She died on Nov. 25, 2009, in Klamath Falls, Ore.
"Cookie" graduated from high school in Salem, then attended Willamette University for two years. She transferred and graduated from Oregon State University with a business degree. At OSU, she was given the nickname "Cookie" because several members of her sorority were named "Georgia."
Also while attending OSU, she met and married Clyde L. Dehlinger in May 1943.
During World War II, while Clyde was fighting in the European Theater, "Cookie" worked in the Portland shipyards. After the war, Clyde and "Cookie" moved to Klamath Falls and began farming and ranching in the Henley area. They were married over 50 years and lived on the Dehlinger ranch.
"Cookie" was an avid gardener, seamstress, and baker, mom, Girl Scout leader, cattle chaser, and sprinkler mover.
She was a member of Eastern Star Aloha Chapter No. 5 and The Daughters of the Nile. She also served on the Klamath County grand jury and, for several years, on the Klamath County Planning Commission.
"Cookie" was a strong believer in private property rights and American freedom.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer D. Cook; mother, Georgianna Cook; husband, Clyde L. Dehlinger; son, Daniel Dehlinger and sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Andy Weber.
"Cookie" is survived by her daughters, Diane Mathis and Maralea Peacore; son-in-law, Jerry Peacore of Klamath Falls, Ore.; and granddaughters, Emily Mathis of Eugene, Ore., and Jill Chaffin and her husband Mark Chaffin of Hubert, N.C.
A Celebration of "Cookie's" Life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Eternal Hills Chapel, followed by a reception at Mt. Laki Church.
"Cookie" would like all donations in her memory to be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97239-3009.
