Musician, Songwriter. Co-founder of the music group The Alan Parsons Project. He moved to London at the age of eighteen and began his career as a session musician, later becoming a successful songwriter for such artists as Marianne Faithfull, Frank Ifield and Peter Noone. During the early 1970s he worked as a music manager before meeting recording engineer Alan Parsons. With the formation of The Alan Parsons Project in 1975, their merger of talents produced such hits as "Games People Play" (1981), "Time" (1981), "Eye in the Sky" (1982) and "Don't Answer Me" (1984). Woolfson contributed many of the song lyrics as well as instrumentation (keyboards) and vocals. Following the group's disbanding in 1987, he wrote compositions for musical theater beginning with "Freudiana" in 1990. He died from cancer.
