Betty Kilpatric Lewis went into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 3, 2009. She was 88 years old.
Betty was born June 9, 1921, in Stockton, CA to Charles C. and Gertrude D. Watkins. She graduated from high school in Lakeview, OR with a college scholarship and a lifetime membership in the National Honor Society. She held student body offices, was Lake County Wooden Box Queen, High School Personality Queen, and First Princess of the Lakeview Round-up.
Betty attended Armstrong Business College in Berkley, CA where she belonged to Beta Sigma Delta Sorority and Beta Phi Gamma, a national honorary journalistic fraternity. She was also Editor of the school paper.
Upon graduation, she was employed as personal secretary to the District Superintendent of Passenger Service for United Air Lines at Oakland Municipal Airport.
She married Jack S. Kilpatric on January 26, 1941 in Chico. They lived in Westwood, Lassen County until Jack entered World War II. They then lived in Wisconsin, Kentucky, where he was stationed. When he was sent to the European Theatre, Betty returned to Chico and was a Collections Teller for Anglo California National Bank. When Jack returned from war, they went back to Westwood and then moved to Chico in 1948. Jack died March 20th, 1960.
On October 20, 1962, Betty married Hayden G. Lewis. He died June 19, 1969.
Betty was employed by A Volpato, Inc. for 23 years.
She was a past member of Order of Amaranth Chico Venture Club, Alpha Beta Chapter-Phi Epsilon Phi, Charter member of the Luncheon Pilot Club of Chico, Zeta and Exemplar Chapter Beta Sigma Phi Delta, Tuesday Afternoon Bridge Club and the Lousy Bowlers League!
Her current memberships included the First Baptist Church, and Josephine Chico Chapter, #104 Order of Eastern Star.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Karyn M. Cvitkovich; and her son, Randy S. Kilpatric (Tami).
