Vida Ord Alexander.
Vida Ord Alexander, 85, a past President of the Mount Pleasant Citizens Association, the Washington Humane Society and the Washington Huguenot Society and a former National Secretary of the Daughters of the United States Army, died of a heart ailment July 14 at the Wisconsin Avenue Nursing Home.
Mrs. Alexander was born into a military family at Fort Bayard, New Mexico. She moved to Washington as a child and had lived here since. She worked at the Justice Department, where she was an assistant in the Office of the Legal Counsel until she retired in 1962 with 40 years of federal service.
She was a member of the Columbia Historical Society.
Her marriage to David Lee Alexander ended in divorce. A son, David Ord Alexander, died in 1980. Survivors include three grandchildren.
