Harry E. Beattie, 83, 201 S. Ohio St., Sheridan, died yesterday afternoon at the Higgins Rest Home. He had been a resident of the county for 23 years.
Born in Rochester, Ind., in 1891, Mr. Beattie was the son of Wilbur J. and Elizabeth (Goff) Beattie. He married Deveda Burns in 1926, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Daubenspeck, Ellenville, N.Y. and Mrs. Bonnie Turfler, Pinebush, N.Y.; a son, Wilbur Beattie of Fowlerville, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Don Beattie of South Bend, a sister, Mrs. Grace Apt, Rochester.
Mr. Beattie bred and trained harness racing horses up until his retirement in 1969. A member of the First Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge in Sheridan, he had served in France during WWI.
