She was an innovator in the food business. Her company was the first to package their chips in sealed bags, and became one of the first companies to put a freshness date on their packages. She sold the company in 1957 accepting six million dollars, which was three million dollars less than a previous offer, but she took the lesser amount in order to secure job security for her employees. The “Potato Chip Queen” was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
