Phillip Warren Parrish, 69, of Athena Ave., transitioned into eternal life on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Harrisburg Hospital.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Robert Parrish and Mary Wright Boyd.

He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War Era. He held the position of Military Policeman and later worked in the Base Health Studio where he was a member of the Lackland Air Force Base Football Team. After being honorably discharded from the Air Force he played Semi Pro Football with the Philadelphia Bull Dogs.

He was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as the former Executive Director of the State House of Representatives Health and Welfare Committee.

In his leisure, he enjoyed reading, writing and storytelling. He had a great love for Jazz which he passed on to his daughter, Andrea. Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley, Clifford Brown, Lou Donaldson, and Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers were favorites among many others.

Phillip leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Jerri Parrish; his daughter, Andrea Parrish of VA; his brother, Blake T. O'Farrow of VA; his nephew, Blake T. O'Farrow III of GA and a host of other relatives and friends.

His life was celebrated on Monday, January 18th in the Sanctuary of Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, 2447 Green St., and burial on Tuesday, January 19th in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
