Otis Perry Cessna, 77, of Hardin, died Sunday, August 19, 2001, at the Liberty-Dayton Hospital in Liberty. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, August 22, 2001, at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel with burial following at Hardin Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 9 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. Otis was born in Hardin to parents; John H. Cessna and Mary Vanya Cessna, and resided in the Hardin area throughout his lifetime. He was a retired pumper of Pointer Oil of Liberty after 16 years of service, a veteran of the US Army with service during World War II, previous employee of Humble Oil & Exxon from 1947 to 1959, owner and operator of Hardin Grocery from 1960-1971, Mayor of Hardin in 1973, City Councilman of Hardin for numerous years, member of the Hardin Baptist Church, and graduate of the Hardin High School Class of 1941. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and politics. Mr. Cessna was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Jackie Patrick Cessna, and numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include his two sons: Randy Cessna and wife Mary of Hardin and Troy Cessna and wife Sandy of San Antonio, three grandchildren: Perry Allen Cessna of Hardin, Kelli Rene Cessna of Hardin, and Corbin Cessna of San Antonio, brother: Vernon Cessna of San Antonio, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
