Vera G. Mabis, 83, Farmer City, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 2, 2010) at Farmer City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Vera was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Farmer City, to Roger and Helen Dafoe Curtis. She married Dean Mabis on Nov. 6, 1959, in Farmer City.
Surviving are one daughter, Jan Wright, Rantoul; one sister, Alma (Russell) Howland, Monticello; two grandchildren, Krista (Richard) Voyles, Farmer City, and Danielle Wright, Sidney; and two great-grandchildren, Brian Voyles and Ashlyn Voyles, both of Farmer City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Helen Curtis; husband, Dean Mabis; one brother, Paul Curtis; and one grandson, Brian Cohoon.
Vera worked for 25 years as office manager for Parkhill Motors in Champaign.
She was a life member of the Joe Williams Post 55 American Legion Auxiliary, and active with the 8 & 40.
Vera was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be deeply missed.
