OBITUARY - Logansport Journal, Logansport (IN) - Tuesday, November 21, 1905
OLD LONGCLIFF PATIENT A SUICIDE.
William Strickler, twice an inmate at Longcliff here, committed suicide at Wabash Sunday monring.
Two years ago Strickler was the victim of a sun stroke and was shortly afterward committed to Longcliff.
He remained there for nine months and was then returned to his home, Wabash, where he remained until he became worse again, and was again brought to Longcliff for treatment, this time remaining three months. Last May he returned to his home again where he committed suicide Sunday morning. It was thought he was getting much better until a few days ago when he suddenly grew worse again. Thursday and Friday he was exceptionally nervous. Saturday, however, he was thought to be better and was allowed to come downtown. While downtown he purchased a two ounce bottle of carbolic acid which he hid in a shed adjoining the house in which he lives. He arose from his bed at an early hour Sunday morning, went into the back yard, drank the carbolic acid and died five minutes later.
