JOHN RICHARD MATTINGLY, 54, FATHER OF LOCAL RESIDENT, DIES
John Richard Mattingly, age 54, father of a Bardstown resident, died suddenly of a heart attack at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, April 25, at his home at St. Francis. Native of Nelson County, he was the son of Bernard Clarence and Mary Edna Nevitt Mattingly. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Pauline Powell; a daughter, Mrs. Billy (Lois Ann) Washburn of Springfield; two sons, Joseph Richard Jr., St. Francis and Joseph Daniel Mattingly of Bardstown; his parents, three sisters, Mrs. Jessie (Mary Delle) Wilson and Mrs. Leo (Mary Aline) Wilson, both of Louisville, and Mrs. Charles (Anna Belle) Thomas of Loretto; two brothers, Thomas C. Mattingly, Louisville, and Cleveland Mattingly of St. Francis, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, St. Francis, with the Rev. Marvin C. Rolfes celebrant of the Mass. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Washburn, Larry Thomas, Kenneth and Mike Miles, Richard and Timmy Shibley. A prayer service was held Monday night at the Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto.
