Jeremiah Keating was born in Curravough, Parish of Tralee, County of Kerry, Ireland.
His parents were Michael Keating and Johanna Sullivan.

Jeremiah arrived in the U.S. on May 18, 1882, on the ship France. He was traveling with his Keating cousin Mary O'Brien Larkin and two of her sons, also from Curravough.
They went to St. Louis to join Jeremiah's siblings and other Keating cousins.

A little over a year after arriving in the U.S, Jeremiah died in St. Louis of typhoid fever.

St Louis Post-Dispatch, 22 September, 1883.
"Keating- On September 20, at 7 p.m, Jeremiah Keating, aged 21 years.
"Funeral from the residence of his brother, Dennis Keating. 1427 North Seventeenth street, on Sunday, September 23, at 1 p.m., to St Lawrence O'Toole's Church, thence to Calvary Cemetery. Friends invited to attend."
