Starling Gibson

DUNKIRK - Services for Starling Gibson, 85, will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, Rev. DeWayne Salisbury officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery.

Mr. Gibson died at 10:30 a.m. Monday in a Toledo hospital after a lengthy illness. Born June 2, 1884, he was the son of Jim and Mary Collins Gibson. He married Elizabeth Rice in 1905 and she died Nov. 12.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Attie Shepherd of Dunkirk, Mrs. Otha (Bessie) Newland of Lima, Mrs. Robert (Tessie) Weaver of Findlay, Mrs. Max (Hazel) Kerns of Lima, and Mrs. Oliver (Irene) Shepherd of Dunkirk; four sons, Frank of Hastings, Mich., Ray of Dunkirk, Gene of Ada, and William of Maytown, Ky.; four brothers, Jim, Dick and Darwin, all of Warsaw, Ind., Jerry of Prestonburg, Ky.; a halfbrother, Sam Collis of Tram, Ky.; three sisters, Maxie Tackett and Fanny Bryant of Melvin, Ky., and Millie Walan of Ypsilanti, Mich.; 35 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.
