Royalty. Born the daughter of William the Conqueror and Mathilda of Flanders. She married Stephen of Blois sometime between 1080 and 1084. She acted as regent while he was in the Holy Land during the first crusade. He returned after the siege of Antioch (1100) and she pursued him to complete his promise to see Jerusalem. So he returned in 1101 and was killed in the Battle of Ramla. She continued to act as regent for her minor children and later retired to the Abbey of Marcigny where she died.
