Dwight, Benjamin Woodbridge
The History Of The Descendants Of Elder John Strong, Volume 1, c1871
Rev. Charles Strong was ordained at Perry, New York October 10, 1854. He was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church. He served as such until October 1861 when he was appointed chaplain in the 46th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers. In 1863 he went as a missionary to New Orleans, Louisiana. After two years time he returned to his labors in New York as a Methodist Episcopal minister. He lectured for some time in behalf of the Freedman's Aid Society, and was preaching at West Carlton, New York. Since October 1, 1867, he has been acting pastor of the Congregational Church at Angola, New York, over which he was installed July 7, 1869.
