Rev. Charles Randolph Strong was the son of Hermon and Hannah (Dolph) Strong and was born Maxfield, Maine. He was the husband of Lydia Ann (Yale) Strong. Rev. Strong was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: Genesee (now Western New York) Conference 1854. He served Boston, Erie Co., Buffalo District, New York 1854 - Otto, Cattaraugus Co., Olean Dist., New York, 1855 - Gowanda, Erie Co., Olean Dist., New York 1856 - Sardinia and Colden, Erie Co., Wyoming Dist., New York 1857 - Wales, Erie Co., Wyoming Dist., New York 1858-1859 - Coudersport, Potter Co., Olean Dist., New York 1860-1861. Located 1867.

Rev. Charles Strong was ordained at Perry, New York October 10, 1854. He was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church. He served as such until October 1861 when he was appointed chaplain in the 46th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers. In 1863 he went as a missionary to New Orleans, Louisiana. After two years time he returned to his labors in New York as a Methodist Episcopal minister. He lectured for some time in behalf of the Freedman's Aid Society, and was preaching at West Carlton, New York. Since October 1, 1867, he has been acting pastor of the Congregational Church at Angola, New York, over which he was installed July 7, 1869.
