Mrs. James Pennington, thirty years of age and the mother of two children, was killed at Athens at 11:30 o'clock yesterday in falling from the running board of her automobile and striking her head against a rock.
She sustained a fractured skull at the base of the brain and lived but an hour, never regaining consciousness. Her husband, who is a merchant in Athens, was passing by the store with his automobile and Mrs. Pennington jumped up on the running board to ride a little way to the home of a neighbor, but had not gone more than half a block when she lost her balance and fell. Advices stated that the machine was being driven slowly by Mr. Pennington and that no reason could be assigned for her falling from the car. The two little sons that survive are aged three and six years.
