Mrs. Laura D. Montgomery, aged 92 years, 9 months and 13 days, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 5, 1949, a 4 o'clock at her home, 56 North Porter street, Waynesburg. Mrs. Montgomery had been an invalid for several years, but her death came unexpectedly.
A native of Morgan Township, she was born April 22, 1856, a daughter of the late John B. and Maria Crayne Cox. She was a lifelong member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ruff Creek. She was twice married. Her first husband was Adam Horn and following his death she married Hugh Montgomery, who has been deceased for 40 years. Mrs. Montgomery resided in the Ruff Creek community until after the death of her husband, when she moved to Waynesburg and had since resided on North Porter street.
By her first marriage, she was the mother of a son, Addie Horn, and a daughter, Mrs. Metta Horn Lippencott, both of whom are deceased. John Montgomery, a son by her second marriage, is also deceased. She leaves a step-daughter, Bertha Cox, of Dayton, O.; two grandchildren, Ralph and Laura Horn, of Lippencott, and several nieces and nephews.
